Career Service Centre
Brief on the Career Service Centre
The Career Service Centre, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, (ATBU) was established following the approval of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETfund) for the take-off of the Career Services Intervention in its beneficiary institutions. This is in line with the University’s commitment at providing a holistic education to its students. The Centre will serve as a one-stop resource point for students seeking guidance and support in their career journey. The Centre will also assist students with almost any aspect of their career from helping them to decide what jobs they will pursue after graduation to reviewing of resumes and interview preparation.
It has been observed that, preparing ATBU students in getting a degree for a job in a specific industry or skills that can be used in a wide range of career fields is one thing, and it is another to guide the students to discover job positions that can match their interests and abilities. The Centre therefore, will help students prepare and review a resume as they begin a job search. Whether a student needs to set up a resume to find job or ready to graduate and enter the workforce in his/her chosen industry, the ATBU Career Service Centre can help to build a marketable resume that will resonate with employers.
The Career Service Centre officially took off with facilities’ inspection by the University Management on Wednesday, 22nd October, 2025. The staff training aspect (Train the Trainer) as approved in the 2024 TETfund Career Services Intervention was conducted from Wednesday, 22nd to Saturday, 25th October, 2025. The training was aimed at building the capacity of staff of the Centre and other relevant units/departments of the University, to serve as a general orientation on the Centre functions and expectations, and related career services.
The Centre is located at the right wing, ground floor of Mal. Zubairu Mohammed Block (Old University Library Complex), Gubi Campus, and it has the following as its pioneer staff:
Dr. Is-haq Abdulsalam – Ag. Director
Mal. Y. J. Kawure – Administrative Secretary
Haj. Bilkisu Y. Poloma – Administrative Officer
