The centre for Industrial studies is a service department for both the school of Engineering and other departments within the University. It consists of six sections namely: Research and Training section, Machine section, fitting section, Welding and Fabrication section, wood-work section and Foundry section.
The centre under takes the training of students in all sections in particular the use of machines and hand tools. The centre trains students in manufacturing process i.e workshop practice ME214, ME225, AGR211, Students Work Experience Programme (SWEP) and the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES). Limited numbers of students from other Institutions are also accepted for training in the centre on the SIWES Programme. The centre also facilitates student collaborations on Research/Postgraduate projects within and outside the University at PGD, Masters and PhD and other levels.

The centre undertakes manufacture of simple machinery, farm implement, spare parts, office and class room furniture, as well as laboratory equipment. In so doing, the centre contributes to knowledge of the community and also cut cost or expenses in the university.

Ongoing collaborations
The Center is in collaboration with PTDF and NIW for the training of personnel in different types of welding such as pipe welding, plate welding in different position for the oil and gas industry. The Center also is in collaboration with the industrial training fund ITF as well as the National Directorate of Employment for the training of Artisans whenever the opportunity provide itself.
