Department of Medical Biochemistry
HOD: Dr. Daniel Hassan Mhya
Brief
Introduction:
The Department of Medical Biochemistry is one of the core departments in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences as enshrined in the Academic Brief of the College. The Department of Medical Biochemistry is housed in phase II building ground floor of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences on the Gubi Campus of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi. In 2015, academic and non-academic staff in the field of Biochemistry were employed for the take-off of the Department. The Department has be actively involved in both administrative and academic activities to propel the college achieve her objective in term of admitting and training the medical students. The Department has two teaching/research laboratories as well as lecture room, seminar room and staff offices. In 2018, the department successfully commence academic activities to the 27 pioneer 200 level medical students. The department is at a crossroad linking several disciplines in Medicine and Allied health sciences. For this reason, the department have been referred to as beautiful bride of the modern sciences. Medical biochemistry course provides explanations for life processes at cellular and molecular levels under normal and abnormal conditions.
